Rev. Dr. Joel Heck - “Creation in the New Testament”
About Rev. Dr. Heck:
Since 1998, the Rev. Dr. Joel D. Heck has served Concordia University Texas as
Professor of Theology. He teaches courses in Old Testament, New Testament,
Reformation history, and the life and writings of C. S. Lewis. He has also served
as a pastor, high school teacher, conference speaker, and as Vice President of
Academic Services for Concordia. He holds the Doctor of Theology from
Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, and he is the Executive Editor of Concordia
University Press. He is the author or editor of thirteen books, most of them in
the areas of evangelism and assimilation. His most recent research will lead to
his fourteenth book on the atheism of C. S. Lewis, explaining why Lewis became
an atheist and why he left atheism behind. To be released in January 2017, the
book will be called From Atheism to Christianity: The Story of C. S. Lewis. Dr.
Heck has written more than dozens of articles C. S. Lewis, various Old Testament
topics, and evangelism, as well as a short book on the creation-evolution
controversy, In the Beginning, God, released by Concordia Publishing House in
2011. He and his wife Cheryl have three grown children and live in north Austin.
The Rev. Dr. Heck is one of two co-founders of the LCMS Society of Creation.
